Brady vs Elway vs Montana: Who Ya Got? Joe Montana:
Wins/Loses: 117-47 Completion Percentage: 63.2% Passing Yards: 40551 yds Touchdowns: 273 4th Quarter Comebacks: 31 Game Winning Drives: 33 League MVPs: 2 Playoff Wins/Loses: 16-7 Playoff 4th Quarter Comebacks: 5 Playoff Game Winning Drives: 5 Super Bowl Wins/Loses: 4-0 Super Bowl MVPs: 3 John Elway:
Wins/Loses: 148-82-1 Completion Percentage: 56.9% Passing Yards: 51475 yds Touchdowns: 300 4th Quarter Comebacks: 35 Game Winning Drives: 46 League MVPs: 1 Playoff Wins/Loses: 14-7 Playoff 4th Quarter Comebacks: 4 Playoff Game Winning Drives: 6 Super Bowl Wins/Loses: 2-3 Super Bowl MVPs: 1 Tom Brady:
Wins/Loses: 160-47 Completion Percentage: 63.5% Passing Yards: 53258 yds Touchdowns: 392 4th Quarter Comebacks: 35 Game Winning Drives: 46 League MVPs: 2 Playoff Wins/Loses: 21-8 Playoff 4th Quarter Comebacks: 6 Playoff Game Winning Drives: 9 Super Bowl Wins/Loses: 4-2 Super Bowl MVPs: 3 (Remember, no wrong answers)Montana. Brady has played more games in the NFL in the regular season than Montana did, so comparing regular season numbers between the two is really misleading. Montana was perfect in his four Superbowl appearances. Brady is not. For now, I have to give Montana the edge because of that. If Brady can win a 5th, and that's a big if, then I may reconsider. Elway is secured at 3rd.

Who gives a shit about stats? It's Most Valuable Player, not best stat line. Romo dragged that Cowboys team at some points in the season. The Packers played as expected this year, the Cowboys over achieved. And if it wasn't for some stupid call, the Packers would have been one-and-done and the Cowboys would have gone to Seattle (whom they had already beaten, unlike Rogers, who footed around with them in both week one and the championship game). Tony Romo carried his team? Bullcrap. Tony Romo was only able to perform as well as he could because of Murray's running game. If anyone on the Cowboys should have gotten an MVP it should have been Murray. As for carrying offenses, Rogers has been doing that how much longer in GB? And I beg to differ about the stat line. More valuable players produce better stat lines. They go hand in hand. In any case, the Cowboys probably shouldn't have even been in that game seen as they were handed a win by the refs the week before. But the MVP is is determined for Regular Season Play and not what happens before or after. Rogers performed better than Romo, and was and is and always will be more valuable to his team than Romo could ever think about being to the Cowboys. You just have sour grapes because you're a Lions fan. What a crack of shit! It's Most Valuable Player, as in player most valuable to his team's success. Green Bay, all around, is a better team than Dallas. I think without Rogers, Green Bay does better than Dallas does without Romo. And again, Green Bay didn't overachieve, Dallas did and a lot of that is due to his ability to keep the gears going. Can't forget about how banged up he was throughout the season. I know Rogers had the hamstring injury late in the season, but Romo went down early but stuck it out and still maintained a high level of play as the year progressed. Romo was the center piece of the Cowboys this year, and while Rogers was the same to Green Bay, Romo had more work to put in. And why would I have sour grapes? Romo's the guy who knocked the Lions out of the playoffs FFS, not Rogers. At least the Lions went 1-1 against Rogers.

Elway is secured at 3rd. I'm torn between Brady and Montana. I'm leaning towards Brady, but I'm not fully confident in that. One of the coolest stories I've ever heard is the John Candy story, and Joe is perfect in the Super Bowl all around. But then when you take a step back, you see Joe played on great teams consistently throughout his career. He always had a great defense behind him. He played with a plethora of hall of fame players on the defense and offense (e.g. Jerry Rice). Brady's arguably the only hall of fame player on the Patriots and has been throughout these last 15 years. He never got to play with that immense talent. Atop that he's had to play with a brand new receiving core every three or so years. Montana never did that, he had consistency all the way through. When you look at the 49ers Super Bowl rosters, they're primarily the same. Brady's Patriots on the other hand, all different. And I don't think you can skip over the fact that he brought a 2011 Patriots team that had the worst defense in the NFL to the Super Bowl, something which only John Elway has really been able to do. To make it to six super bowls (which Joe never did), win four of them with brand new pieces each time and barley (if any) HOF talent on the team, make it to nine conference championships, and consistently put up the numbers he has in the free agency/salary cap era is a helluva achievement and very well may never be matched again. I know you're stingy towards Brady, but you're really underselling him.

Cowboy's offense was more complete as a whole this year. I didn't see anything really different from Romo except he played well in December. The offensive line was good this year, and they had a running game to take pressure off of Romo. Sorry, but there are at least three or four other guys who deserved the MVP more.

Well, at least we agree that Watt deserved it more.

So first Jerry says Tom deserves an asterisk next to his name because "he's a cheater", and everybody jumps on board with that. Now that Jerry's admited to using stickum, everybody's saying he deserves an asterisk next to his name too.
This is fucking ridiculous.

Ordered the Patriots "SB 49 Champs" DVD, SB 49 champs t-shirt, got 6 Sports Illustrated issues for $2, and a free Lions t-shirt in the process.

I think Winston should be a late first round pick, not a first of the draft type pick. He's a winner, sure, but he's won in ugly ways plenty of times, and Oregon proved that he can and will be rattled. Plus, with a guy that's had some character issues off the field, that beer gut picture didn't instill any confidence.

Rookie quarter backs these days are over hyped in general. Aside from Stafford, Newton, Dalton, Kapernick, & the 2012 QB Draft Class, there hasn't been a whole lot success from QBs in recent years. That may sound like a lot but it really isn't, I mean Stafford, Newton, and Luck all went to shitty, shitty teams and brought them to the playoffs (so congrats to them), Dalton, Wilson, and Kapernick went to already good team so he had a fair amount of help. Throw in the extra 2012 QBs that are getting there and you have: -3 QBs that have overachieved and made the jump (Stafford, Luck, Newton) -2 QBs that have achieved with a good team around them already (Wilson and Dalton) -2 QBs that have achieved much varied success in their time in the NFL so far (Kapernick & RGIII) -2 QBs that are on their way there (Foles & Tannehill) -Annnnnd countless busts/wasted opportunities
I forget what point I'm trying to make in all this, but I think that it's that QBs are too over-hyped and over valued these days, they're expected too much of with too little around them, and they're given up on too early.

I looked it up, and since 2009 there have been about ten QB busts in the first two rounds of the past five drafts (excluding the 2014 draft), and then there's whatever the hell Mark Sanchez and RGIII are. I don't know if you're suppose to label them a success, mediocre, or bust. I think Sanchez is more mediocre and RGIII is closer to a bust.
