Collider: Deadpool is just about everything you could hope for from a Deadpool movie given the boundaries of A) it’s an origin story; B) it has to bring in people who are unfamiliar with the character; and C) it’s upending traditional superhero tropes. Even with these restraints, the film is often an absolute blast that had me rolling over with laughter again and again. It’s a shame we had to wait so long for Deadpool to mouth off again, but hopefully he’ll be serving up some chimichangas in the not-too-distant future. Cinema Blend: Deadpool’s script spent about five years on the shelf waiting to get made, and watching the finished result, it’s hard to understand why its incredible potential wasn’t seen and exploited sooner. The movie is going to endear a whole new audience to the vivid and weird character, while once again demonstrating the tremendous opportunity for variety in the comic book movie genre. “Worth the wait” only begins to describe the outrageous and excessively entertaining film, and it spells incredible things for the character's future.RATING: 4.5/5www.cinemablend.com/reviews/Deadpool-69247.html

Indiewire: As is often the case with such violence, it eventually becomes numbing. By its midpoint, once the novelty of a superhero movie showing super levels of violence wears off, the thinness and lack of spark in the fight scenes becomes more readily apparent. By the film's end, they are hard to distinguish from any other superhero fare. Similarly, lack of imagination keep the film's prodigious swearing and occasional nudity from feeling like anything original. They appear to be shoe-horned into the film simply because they could be, not because they serve an essential purpose. And here we thought "Deadpool" would do something different.RATING: B-www.indiewire.com/article/deadpool-movie-review-ryan-reynolds-20160206

HitFix: I'm not sure there's a franchise in Deadpool, because some of what I enjoyed here was the sheer surprise of it all, but I hope it does incredibly well. The message it sends is that you can push this stuff further than the studios have dared so far, and sometimes it pays off to take a chance. Best case scenario: Warner Bros. sees the success of this one and then Suicide Squad does well, and then someone decides to greenlight Robert Gordon's Bizarro screenplay. For now, I'll just marvel at the fact that Fox finally grew the jooblies to let this film happen. Also, this is now the official Best Stan Lee Cameo ever.www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/review-deadpool-is-the-worlds-most-violent-and-vulgar-bugs-bunny-cartoon#RsUl9PRPyhzR3iRx.99

Variety: As a vehicle for the impudent comic stylings of Ryan Reynolds, this cheerfully demented origin story is many, many cuts above “Green Lantern,” and as a sly demolition job on the superhero movie, it sure as hell beats “Kick-Ass.” And given the resurgence of fanboy interest following a well-received trailer at last year’s Comic-Con (plus the benefit of Imax showings), “Deadpool” should show plenty of life at the box office, especially if its well-earned R rating functions less as kiss of death than as badge of honor.variety.com/2016/film/reviews/deadpool-review-ryan-reynolds-1201695367/

EW: The jokes in Deadpool are delivered with such a sly, smart-aleck wink that it takes a while to figure out that it’s selling a jokey tone rather than actual jokes half the time. But it’s got the perfect salesman in Reynolds. Even with a face that’s been horrifically crispified into what his pal (Silicon Valley’s T.J. Miller) likens to the offspring of an avocado that had sex with an older avocado, Reynolds and his character are a blast of laughing gas in a genre that tends to take itself way too seriously. Deadpool may not be a cutting-edge comedy, but it is a cutting-edge Marvel movie. And right now, that’s something.RATING: Bwww.ew.com/article/2016/02/06/deadpool-review

Comic Book Resources: It's remarkable. On paper, this project is almost entirely made up of red flags of why this particular superhero flick shouldn't work, from tonal mash-up to its adults-only content and its failure-to-launch lead. Yet Miller and Reynolds bring it all together, not only making something hilarious, thrilling, romantic and fun but also making "Deadpool" one of the most satisfying superhero movies the world has ever seen.www.comicbookresources.com/article/review-violent-profane-deadpool-shouldnt-work-but-really-f-ing-does

JoBlo It’s simple – if you like the Deadpool comics and appreciate the character see this. It’s made for you. By the same token, if you loathe the character stay away. If you’re more of a casual fan or not really a comic reader, you’d be well-advised to go in with an open mind. If you don’t mind a gloriously silly 100 minutes fanboy ride, you’ll have fun. But, if you expect a KINGSMAN style cross-over hit that’s not at all what this is. It’s been made for a specific cult audience but it can’t be denied – that audience will absolutely love it.RATING: 7/10www.joblo.com/movie-news/review-deadpool-289-02

But I thought Fox couldn't make a good comic book movie...

Didn't Fox pretty much keep their hands off this one for the most part?
