I think I've worked out how nova can be in the MCU.
So, Rhomann Dey in between GotG and Avengers 3 he becomes Nova Prime, don't question this.
Now, we don't see it in GotG but Nova Prime and some Nova Centurions (highest class of Nova) have super rad armor/suits that give them powers. Maybe it's based on the Infinity Stone they have? Now, they realise they need to protect the infinity stone with a bit more than just some dudes with guns, so they bring in the centurions(who have only just been made, hence the super powered Nova's absence from the final battle in GotG).
Avengers 3(or maybe in the end credits of one of the movies leading up to it? Marvel might decide to show Thanos capturing the infinity stones in their end credit scenes or they'll have him do it in part 1, personally I prefer the latter).
Thanos comes to Xandar, the Nova Centurions fight him along side Nova Prime (Dey) and loose, obviously. Dey escapes and as Xandar falls Dey takes a space craft and light speeds off to earth, in hope of finding the GotG or a means of communicating to them. This is the main bit that would need some more thought and explanation.
Later in the movie Dey arrives on Earth, Crash lands, he's hurt, slowly bleeding out but his suit is preserving him. Dey is found by none other than Dick Rider, ahem, sorry, Richard Rider(who is relatively young, around 16-17 or so). Blah Blah Blah, Dey tells him that he has to tell the guardians about Thanos n Shit, "Guardians?" Rider doesn't know who they are since they haven't been on earth, or if they have they weren't known to the public. Dey gives Rider his suit, tells him that it has a message for them in it. Rider puts the suit in a bag and decides to go to the avengers tower. He shows them the recording and Thor recognises Thanos' Name.
AVENGERS ARE GOING TO SPACE!
In Avengers 3:Part 2 Rider will eventually put on the suit and join the rest of earths heroes that have been hidden since the civil war in an attack on Thanos, who has come to earth in search of the final infinity stone(loki's sceptre).
Then maybe he gets a solo movie where he goes to Xandar which has been preserved by The Watcher(yep, I'm bringing him into the MCU too.) as he did in the comics.

I'll describe my dream Nova film. It's a stand alone film without any interaction with others and takes place over a few days and is relatively small scale. The film is based mostly on Earth, despite Nova and Green Lantern comics being based in space mostly I think that their films would be best suited to earth.
Main Characters
Richard Rider/Nova: A 17 year old New Yorker, not super popular, not bullied. Just your run of the mill normal guy. Ravenous: The main villain, a huge grey beast. Hates the Nova Corp and will do whatever he can to wipe them out.
PlotThe first ten minutes of the film are set 10 years prior, in space, and will introduce the audience to the Nova Republic (what we didn't see in Guardians of the Galaxy) and their quarrels with the Kree Empire. We're introduced to a planet (unsure of a name), in the Kree Empire. Due to their shady alliance with Thanos the Nova Corp declare war on the planet, ultimately resulting in it's destruction. The only survivor is a former general, currently in a Nova Corp jail, on the edge of the war zone. He is helpless but to watch as his planet implodes on itself. This is Ravenous, the film's main villain. The film is now 6 months in the past. the jail holding Ravenous is attacked, hordes of Novas are slaughtered by none other than Thanos. He frees Ravenous and gives him the task of preparing earth for his planned arrival. We then jump to Xandar, where a corpsman, up until John C. Reilly was cast as Dey it was going to be him but now it would have to be someone else. On Xandar a Nova council is discussing what to do about the apparent reemergence of Thanos and the Black Order. One energy signal has been tracked to near Earth and the corpsman volunteers to take on the task. On the moon the corpsman meets Ravenous and is brutally beaten, due to his hatred for Novas he chooses to make him suffer, throwing the corpsman's broken body toward earth. Crashing into Central Park he is found, dying, by Richard Rider. Without a moments hesitation Rider tries to help the corpsman. With his dying breath the corpsman gives his helmet to Rider, along with access to the Nova Force, telling him "Be prepared, Ravenous is coming...".
The film's first act would see Rider coming to grips with the power that he now has and his first encounter with Ravenous, eventually leading to him overcoming Ravenous in the third act. The final fight took place in an electrical plant on the outskirts of New York (Roberto Orci stole my stage!). Ravenous grabs a supply wire and pulls it apart, pushing the two ends into Nova, attempting to kill him by electrocution. In the comics Novas have the ability to absorb energy fired at them. Absorbing all of the electricity, Nova easily beats Ravenous, finishing him off with a huge energy blast. |
