I'm inclined to believe that he did kill himself, but it'll either be retconned or forgetten about down the road.

I'm gonna put my two cents out there:
I'm not usually big on the Joker having an origin. Truth be told, I'm not a massive fan of The Killing Joke, though I understand its iconic status and importance. Like most people, I'm happy to see the Joker turn up fully formed and not worry about his untold story.
But two things changed that for me: Arkham Origins and Zero Year.
I now love the idea of the Red Hood, and in the case of Zero Year, the Red Hood Gang. I think that stuff's truly fantastic, and adds a great layer to the Batman mythos. Two me, in those two stories (some people think Joker being the Red Hood in ZY is merely suggested, but the panels where you get brief, shadowy glimpses of the man beneath the mask have sold me on it being Mr. J), RH is a concrete part of the Joker's life, and that's great to me. The immortal Joker stuff, however, I'd prefer if that remains a strong suggestion, never actually confirmed; I hope it just remains as an unnerving sense of fear.
TL;DR: I love the Joker's origin as Red Hood in Arkham Origins and Zero Year. I love the suggestion of him being immortal in Endgame, but I'm not sure I would love it if it became a confirmed retcon.

Also, Tomasi and Gleason's Two-Face story took place after Damian's death.
Remember how when Damian died the Batman and Robin book became Batman and [INSERT NAME HERE]? It was called Batman and Two-Face during that Harvey Dent storyline, so that means it was certainly after Damian's demise.

The Joker being immortal adds so much to his character. Think about it: He's thinking long term fun here. Once Batman knows he's immortal, the fun's over. Batman's not going to be up for anymore "games". All along, all this fighting was just a way to pass the time, and him keeping his secret allowed him to keep up the fun.

What'd really be fucked up is if somehow The Joker made Batman immortal too, so the two of them will have to do this till the end of time.

It is an awesome concept having Batman outlive everybody he loves.
Watching them all wither away and die while he is cursed with immortality.
The only person who truly understands him and is always with him is his worst enemy.

Superman too I suppose. And we know Wonder Woman will likely live a good long life.
